Lockdown: UP Govt To Door Deliver Milk, Medicines, Groceries

In the wake of the nationwide 21-day lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday night in his televised address to the nation, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has assured citizens that it would arrange the door delivery of vegetables, milk, fruits, medicines and other essential commodities, according to the news agency, ANI.

In the wake of the nationwide 21-day lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday night in his televised address to the nation, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has assured citizens that it would arrange the door delivery of vegetables, milk, fruits, medicines and other essential commodities, according to the news agency, ANI. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reassured citizens on the steps being taken proactively by his government.

The UP Chief Minister, addressing citizens of the state, said that these essential items "will be delivered to your doorsteps for which we have identified more than 10,000 vehicles." Yogi Adityanath further appealed to people of the state not to step outdoors and go to the markets to buy essential items.


Yogi Adityanath told the 23 crore citizens of Uttar Pradesh that he would like to assure them that the state has enough stock of essential items like vegetables, milk and medicines, among other things. The UP chief minister further appealed to the people of the state to remain indoors and maintain social distance for their own safety and that of their family members.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his televised address on Tuesday night announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown in the wake of the spread of COVID-19. He also appealed to citizens to stay indoors.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a set of guidelines on Tuesday night spelling out bans and exemptions so that citizens understand what stays open and what would be closed during this 21-day period.
