Mumbai Rains kill 22 people; 54 flights diverted

Mumbai has come to a stand-still with all modes of transport coming to a halt due to the heavy rains.

54 flights were diverted to and from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport due to bad weather conditions that prevailed yesterday. Around 152 flights were delayed during departures, from 12 am till 3 pm.

Flights to major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai have been cancelled and domestic airlines like Indigo, SpiceJet and Air Vistara have taken to social media to post about the unfavourable weather conditions.

The city has received 540 millimetres of rain since Sunday night, and more rains are expected in the upcoming days. The Regional Meteorological Centre has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai city and its suburbs.
