The four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case did not express any last wishes before being hanged this morning, the director general of Tihar Jail, where the executions took place, has said.

The bodies of the four Nirbhaya convicts have been lowered and checked by a doctor who has declared all the four dead. The bodies will now be sent for post-mortem.

According to protocol, the bodies of the four men will remain hanging for the next 30 minutes after which they will be lowered and examined by a doctor. The bodies will then be sent for post-mortem after which they will be released to the respective families.

Lockdown has been imposed at Delhi's Tihar Jail ahead of the scheduled executions of the four men convicted in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case. As per protocol, all inmates at a jail are to be locked in their cells during the time of an execution.
