New Delhi: BJP Rajya Sabha MP TG Venkatesh here on Monday said that Amaravati had become a major controversy in Andhra Pradesh and urged Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to set up a Mini Secretariat, Assembly and High Court benches in Kurnool and Visakhapatnam to solve the three capitals issue.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, Venkatesh asked Jagan Mohan Reddy to initiate steps to set up a Mini Secretariat, Assembly and High Court benches in Kurnool and Visakhapatnam so that it will ensure overall development of all three regions.

Venkatesh praised Jagan's idea of decentralisation of administration by setting up Grama Sachivalayas but advised the government not to rule by making three capitals.

He said Rayalaseema would be developed by setting up High Court in Kurnool and he advised Assembly sessions should be conducted in all the three regions.

Venkatesh recalled that when Amaravati was chosen as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, the people of Rayalaseema had sought the capital region be made a free zone and Kurnool be made the winter capital and Visakhapatnam the summer capital.

He said when High Court benches can be set up in two regions then Secretariats should also be set up in the other two regions and said many parts in Rayalseema and North Andhra remained backward for many years and the move of setting up Secretariats and High Courts will lead to the development of those regions.
