An awareness campaign against the use of plastic was carried out by South Western Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (SWRWWO) at Hubballi Railway Station on Thursday.

New Delhi: An awareness campaign against the use of plastic was carried out by South Western Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (SWRWWO) at Hubballi Railway Station on Thursday.

This drive was part of appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of 150 birth anniversary celebrations of the Mahatma Gandhi realizing the vision for a clean India mission. A fortnight drive on cleanliness "Swachhata Pakhwara" is also being conducted by SWR from September 16 to September 30 which will culminate on October 2.

The South Western Railway Women's Welfare Organisation under the leadership of Sujatha Singh, President SWRWWO, Sindhuja, Singh, Vice President SWRWWO and all executive members on Friday took part in a plastic waste free campaign at Hubballi Railway Station.

The SWRWWO members interacted with passengers at Hubballi Railway Station and encouraged them to use eco-friendly cloth bags. They distributed cloth bags to the passengers in exchange for plastic bags and awareness was created among the passengers and public to avoid singe use plastic.
