New York: A 49-year-old Chikapalli Anasuyamma received the prestigious UNESCO award in New York on Tuesday. She has received this award for preserving the endangered forest area near Zaheerabad in Sandareddy district. Anasuyamma, who is a member of the Deccan Development Society (DDS), formed women groups in Pastapur and turned wastelands in and around her village into forests.
