Hyderabad: After almost 20 years, the city will be hosting the national conference of the All-India Students Federation (AISF) on November 28. With its slogan ‘Hit Back Commercialisation of Education’, the conference aims at countering the government’s push for pro-market proposition in education.
Speaking to The Hans India, AISF state president Syed Vali Ullah Khadri said the Board of Intermediate is completely under the control of the two of the leading corporate colleges, which has enrolment of 2.5 lakh students out of three lakh students. “It is anybody’s guess how top ranks are captured by these handful of institutes”, he said.
Expressing concern over UPA government’s rush in taking forward the proposal allowing foreign universities, Vali Ullah Khadri lamented that first it was the school education which was neglected and gave way for private schools. The next to fall in line was higher education at the level of Intermediate courses. He lamented that not even a single Indian University was ranked among 400 top Universities across the globe.
