Humanism promotes social values: Samaram
World Humanist Day was celebrated at Atheist Centre in the city on Tuesday. Speaking on `Humanism - Values’ at a programme organised to mark the occasion, Dr G Samaram, former Indian Medical Association national president, said humanism and atheism help promote values in the society by developing rational thinking and scientific attitude among people. Communalism is a major hindrance to growth.

It should be curbed to avoid conflicts in the world in the name of religion. Universal peace and tranquility can be achieved through promotion of humanism, he said. Atheist Centre organiser G Vijayam presided over the event. Former MP Chennupati Vidya, Gora Science Centre director G Niyanta, Hari Subrahmanyam, Dr Maru, Dr Keerthi, Sudeepthi Vardhan, Apparao and others spoke.
