City boxer Md Wajahath Ali won bronze medal in School Games Federation of India (SGFI) National Boxing Championship which was held at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh recently. Ali had competed in under -17 age group 65 kg category and emerged bronze medal winner in the national event.

Earlier, he participated in SGFI inter district championship representing Krishna district and won gold medal. Then he qualified for Nationals and represented the Andhra Pradesh team. The budding boxer Wajahat Ali has been studying tenth class in Darasga Ilamic high school at Labbipet in the city.

Krishna District Amateur Boxing Association (KDABA) chairman and senior advocate Karnati Rammohana Rao felicitated Bronze medal winner at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in the city.

Karnati Rammohana Rao said that boxing game is a very popular game across the world and it is purely a technical game. Players should be careful while taking part in the sport, he suggested. Boxing association president UV Raghavulu, Secretary KU Chaitanya Kumar, Vice-president Appala Raju and others participated in the programme.
