As a part of the weekend cultural programme, the Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh had organised a dance ballet ‘Sri Krishan Parijatam’ which was staged by the team of Patnam Shivaprasad on Sunday evening at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College.

This dance ballet was based on a mythological story of Sri Krishna in Maha Bhagavatam. It is a popular story describing how Lord Sri Krishna brought Parijata tree from Haven to please Satyabhama and also taught a lesson to Satyabhama with the assistance of Narada to control Satyabhama’s ego.

The ballet has many dramatic elements and a lot of scope for the artistes to perform. M Manogna as Sri Krishna, Sangeeta Shilpa as Satyabhama, Krithi Iyyangar as Rukmini and Sahiti Iyyangar as Narada showcased their talent. The expressions, natya vinyasam of the artistes captured the attention of the audience.

Though the dance ballet was impressive some lapses had taken place during the performance. The artistes or the director should have noticed the fallen down crown to be removed from the stage. The Sri Krishna and Satyabhama continued the dance keeping the fallen crown on the stage. If the technical inputs are used properly the ballet would have been more effective.

Vocal support rendered by Kumara Suryanarayana and K Lakshminarasamma. Palaparthy Anjaneyulu supported on violin, Vijayakumar on mridangam and flute by Kumar babu.
