“Maya Bazaar” mythological drama was staged on the inaugural day and won acclaim. Though it was a known story, the presentation was excellent with some interesting and unique scenes. R Divakar as Sri Krishna, Subhakar as Abhimanyu, Parimala as Sasikala, Kumar as Balarama, R. Venugopal as Ghatotgaja, Subba Rao as Hidimbi did their best to elevate the characters.
On Friday the same team staged the imaginary historical drama “Patalabhiravi”, which also drew praise from the audience. The story of the drama was very popular as the same was screened by famous movie makers “Vijaya Production”. The main characters were portrayed by Divakar as Tota Ramudu, Santhi as Yuvarani, Venugopal as Mayala Phakeer, Gopal as sadajapa.
On Saturday the drama ‘Bhakta Prahlada” based on a Bhagavatha story was staged. The combination of the narration, creativity and technical inputs is the hallmark of Surabhi. The scenes that stood out were Vishnumoorthy stabbing Hiranyaksha, Hiranyakasyapa taking revenge on his son Prahlada and the climax in the form .of the incarnation of Narasimhaswamy.
Dinakar as Narada, Suvarna Devi as Leelavathi, Venugopal as Hiranyaksyapa, Manjumohini as Prahlada, acted well. D. Vijaya Bhaskar, Drirector, Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh appreciated the works of Surabhi troupe. He extolled them to continue the traditioon into the future also.
