A major fire broke out in the outpatient dispensary at the Government General Hospital here on Monday. According to the GGH Superintendent Raghavendra Rao, smoke was noticed by the hospital security from the OP (outpatient) dispensary. The security guards alerted hospital authorities and called the fire services.

According to the GGH Superintendent Raghavendra Rao, smoke was noticed by the hospital security from the OP (outpatient) dispensary. The security guards alerted hospital authorities and called the fire services.

The cause of the fire was a short circuit, said the Superintendent. He further said that total loss was estimated at Rs 13 lakh. He said some medicines were burnt and some weren’t, but as a precautionary measure they too were kept away from usage. “Two air conditioners and two computer systems were also burned in the fire,” Raghavendra Rao informed. The fire department officials extinguished the fire.
