Sports Day celebrated at Siddhartha

Vijayawada: Annual Sports Day was celebrated at PB Siddhartha Arts and Science College, organised by the department of Physical Education at the college auditorium here on Thursday. The chief guest of the programme was Andhra Cricket Association Vijayawada general secretary Ch Arun Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, Arun Kumar said sports would give physical and mental relaxation. “By doing exercise every day one can be fit. Nowadays, all the educational instructions are giving more importance to studies than sports. If sports are also given importance, the youth will transform as best citizens,” he opined. He congratulated the students who won prizes.

PBS Academy president N Venkateswarulu said that the institution was encouraging sports by giving sports scholarship and providing sports material for sports lovers. The college principal, Meka Ramesh presided over the programme. PBS Academy secretary P Lakshman Rao, treasurer S Venkateswara Rao and convener PLN Prasad, PBS director V Babu Rao, dean Rajesh C Jampa, lecturers, students and staff were present. Winners were given prizes.
