Ongole: YSRCP MP YV Subba Reddy has demanded the state government to intervene and take urgent steps to ensure remunerative prices to farmers who was petrified by the natural calamities.

Addressing media here on Sunday, he said that the prices of tobacco have fallen down, there is no one to lift red gram, while Bengal gram is languishing in cold storages. He reminded how the earlier Congress regime had immediately roped in the services of agencies like the Markfed and Coal Societies to ensure lifting tobacco and pulses at the MSP from the farmers.

Comparing tobacco prices, he said the commodity sells in neighbouring Karnataka at Rs 155 a kg, while the price in AP ranges between Rs 135 and Rs 145 a kg.

Of the total 60 millions----?, only 13 million KG (editor please find out) have been lifted. He wanted the tobacco board to immediately interfere and ensure that the farmers get the MSP.

He pointed out that another tenanant farmer in Jarugumalli mandal took the extreme step unable to overcome the debt burden. In fact, 60000 quintals of red gram was produced in 90,000 hectares in the district. The officials are not buying more than two bags from each farmer. So far, only 33,000 quintals have been lifted.

He charged the TDP leaders on the recommendation of Janmabhoomi committees are purchasing the commodity and selling them at the purchase centers, he said it is atrocities. Further, he said that Bengal grams are languishing in cold storages for want of buyers.
He pointed out that banana plantation was damaged in an extent of 250 acres due to unseasonal rains.

Similarly, mango, sweet lemon, papaya and lemon plantations were damaged due to rain.He demanded the state government to announced ex-gratia to the couple washed by the flooding Teegaleru.

When the people of Giddaluru require 1.7 million liters of water through 1800 water tankers, the government is supplying only 1600 tankers of water, he lamented.
In Markapuram, the water requirement of 80,000 people is 8.7 million liters but the government is washing off its hands supplying only 5 million liters of water. He demanded the government to improve the drinking water supply on a war-footing.

To a question, the MP said that the TDP sailed with the BJP for four years and turning tables on the YSRCP, which he said moved the no-confidence motion against the NDA government at the Center a record 13 times. He sought to know why the TDP did not move the No-confidence motion.

Who would believe the TDP that it is against the BJP going by its record of appointing a Maharashtra BJP Minister’s wife as TTD governing body member.

He lamented that the TDP is on one hand with the BP and on the other blaming the YSRCP.
The TDP lost people’s confidence in all respects, he said. That is why the TDP leaders are charting their independence course as they lost faith in Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, he reasoned.

YSRCP leaders Ramana Reddy, Y Venkateswar Rao, Vemuri Bujji, Gorrepati Srinivasa Rao, Vampugudi Srinivasa Rao and others were present.
