Over 4.5 lakh non-gazetted officers of the State government will strike work from the midnight of Monday in the 13 districts of Seemandhra region in response to the protest call given by the APNGOs opposing the decision to bifurcate the state. In addition to them, another 70,000 employees of the State Road Transport Corporation also will join the strike impacting the operation of bus services though out the region.

In addition to them, another 70,000 employees of the State Road Transport Corporation also will join the strike impacting the operation of bus services though out the region.

The bus services to Tirumala, all important pilgrim centre of the state, will also be affected because of the employees stir. The TTD seeking an exemption for the Tirumala-bound buses, is in talks with the RTC employees. The RTC employees unions are yet to give an assurance on the issue. Ashok Babu, APNGOs president said that the strike would impact all the departments including the medical and health and electricity. The ICDS feeding centres, services in casualty wards and other essential services were exempted.
