Nizamabad: About 40 journalists of both print and electronic media from Medak district visited Ankapur village on Sunday and interacted with the village elders and prominent farmers. The team was led by HMTV chief News Coordinator and Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) deputy general secretary Virahat Ali. The journalists were received by Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) chairman Mara Ganga Reddy and sarpanch Pushpa. The journos held a meeting at Gudadi Reddy Sangham in the village. The single window (PACS) chairman Ganga Reddy and sarpanch Pushpa explained how the village developed due to the modern techniques adopted by the farmers.
The scribes visited Panchayat Office, Vegetable Market Yard and other important farm places in the village. They also visited some of the agriculture fields – turmeric, red jowar and others - and interacted with the farmers.
The farmers explained how they have been using modern farm methods for the cultivation of turmeric and other crops. They also explained how they were avoiding middlemen (agents) while selling their agriculture yields and about drip and sprinkler irrigation methods.
Majority of farmers in the village are economically developed. The population of the village is about 5,000 and it has 200 car owners. There are 22 agriculture processing units in the surroundings of the village.
Indian Journalists Union (IJU) district president Kandi Prabhakar Reddy, Medak APUWJ representatives Yella Reddy, Krupakar and others were among the team members who visited the village.
