Seven injured as driver fails to apply brakes

Hyderabad: Unruly driving by an RTC bus driver caused injuries to seven persons at Rezimental Bazaar in Secunderabad on Wednesday afternoon, after the driver failed to apply the brakes.
Incidentally, it was a bike that stopped the bus from creating more havoc. According to police, the bus which was plying from Uppal to Medchal hit a bike carrying two people and four pedestrians as soon as it reached Secunderabad railway station.
The two commuters on the bike escaped with minor injuries as their scooter came under the wheels of the bus. Eye witnesses said that the bus driver had failed to apply the brakes on time and ended up injuring the commuters.
But the driver, defending himself, said that the brakes had failed and that he could not control the bus at the time of the accident. The injured were identified as Venu, Srinivas and five others. They were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police registered a case under Section 337 of the IPC and took the driver into custody. Further investigations are on.
