Hyderabad: Janapadam (folklore) has a place of great value in the field of Telugu literature, says Padmabhushan C Narayana Reddy. He was speaking as the chief guest at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Andhra Pradesh Janapada Sahithya Parishat at Devulapalli Ramanuja Rao Kala Mandiram here on Saturday. He released the 40th Anniversary Janapada Saraswati 2013 special edition magazine on the occasion. He congratulated the Parishat for their services in promoting folk literature and arts.
20-Point Programme Chairman N Tulasi Reddy, and Kulasekhar Rao, former head of the department of Telugu at Osmania University, were other guests of honour.
Tulasi Reddy said art reflects human attitudes and the way of contemporary living. Literature and music affect people in several ways and the efforts of the Parishat in preserving the culture of yore for the future generations is highly praise-worthy, he noted.
The Parishat presented ‘Rama Raju Janapada Vignana Award’ to Acharya Krishna Reddy and ‘Krishna Kumari Janapada Kala Bhanumati Award’ to music director Sneha Latha Murali. Tulasi Reddy and Narayana Reddy felicitated the members of the Parishat, who strove for the development of Reddy community. The Parishat also felicitated the guests of honour. The cultural programme presented by Sneha Latha Murali was a special attraction at the programme. The founder of the organisation, Nayani Krishna Kumari, and Vasundhara, the present president, Saraswati, treasurer, were present.
