Visakhapatnam: Principal Secretary and former Executive Officer of TTD LV Subrahmanyam released ‘Ramayana,’ a compilation of eminent scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao’s discourses on the Ramayana, here on Wednesday.
Addressing a packed Gurazada Kalakshetra on the occasion, Subrahmanayam eulogized the services of Chaganti and said he was embarked on a daunting task of showing the right path to the society as enshrined in the Ramayana.
He compared Chaganti’s task to that of a spiritual revolution, ushering changes in the minds and hearts of people for the betterment of the society. “At a time when family values are declining, he is showing us the right path. His resolve is tremendous and he is leading us towards Sanatana Dharma. It is important that we put into practice what he is preaching,” he exhorted.
Chaganti said that he was blessed that the book was released on the Navami Day, the birth thithi of Sri Rama. The book was not ready even a couple of days back, but the publisher Emesco, headed by Vijaya Kumar printed it in time, so that it could be released at the valedictory function of the five-day spiritual discourse on ‘Gangaadi Panchanadula Prasastyam.’
He also lauded the services of Satyananda Murthi who listened to the CDs of his discourses for days together, and transcribed them, facilitating the book form.
Director- General (Investigation) of Income Tax, Dr P Raghu, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority Vice-Chairman Dr N Yuvaraj, late Sribhashyam Appalacharyulu’s son Srinivasacharyulu, and the sponsor of the programme CMR proprietor Mavuru Venkata Ramana and others were present.
Earlier, a Sobha Yatra was taken out from the Sri Jagannadha Mandir in Utkal Samskrutika Samaj, a couple of furlongs away from Gurajada Kalakshetra, with the Ramayana placed in a palanquin along with an idol of Sri Rama. Nadaswaram and Kolatam troupes led the procession. The chants of ‘Jai Sriram’ rent the air during the yatra. On the dais, Subrahmanyam carried the over 1,000 pages `Ramayana' book on his head, and performed `Atma Pradakshina’ thrice before releasing it amid chanting of hymns by Vedic scholars.
