Hyderabad: TRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday issued a stern warning to the Centre and the AICC leadership that if they decided to go ahead with the proposal to merge Kurnool and Anantapur with Telangana and carve Rayala Telangana, the TRS would resort to all-out war and gave a call for total shutdown across the region on December 5 when the Union cabinet was expected to take a final decision on the issue.
Breaking his strategic silence this evening, Rao at a media conference said that the Congress party was trying to dilute the resolution of the Congress Working Committee which was accepted by the Union cabinet in toto. This amounts to insulting the people of the region and the TRS would not tolerate any such move. ‘Even if we lose our lives or the sun might rise in the West but people of Telangana will not accept this proposal.” He said he wanted to convey to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh besides the GoM that the people of Telangana would not accept Rayala Telangana.
Rao appealed to everyone, including the business community, IT and industry sectors, government employees and RTC staff to voluntarily participate and ensure that the bandh was complete.
Claiming that he had credible information that the Centre had decided to create Rayala Telangana, Rao questioned the high command as to who asked them to make changes to the CWC resolution. “It amounts to self contradiction of the decision taken by the AICC,” he said. Their decision to bring in the proposal of Rayala Telangana would hurt the sentiments of the people the T region as well as Rayalaseema, he said.
Meanwhile, Rao called upon the party rank and file to undertake mass protests across the region on Wednesday to express their strong resentment over the proposal to create Rayala Telangana.
He said the Congress party should not think that it could have its way and go against the aspirations of the people of Telangana. The party, he said, would announce its action plan at an emergency meeting of the Politburo to be held on Friday.
Rao said accepting the merger of Kurnool and Anantapur districts with T state would amount to legitimising the unauthorised irrigation projects and deprive water to areas like Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts. “The TRS is not ready to accept any conditions on the status of Hyderabad. Even the proposal to keep administration of law and order in the city with the Centre for 10 years was not acceptable to them. T state should have all powers on its territory on par with all the other 28 states in the country,” he said.
Rao said there was no word called common capital in the Constitution of India., Even then, the TRS had agreed for it as they wanted to be magnanimous in their approach.
He said students like Srikantha Chary did not lay down their lives for Rayala Telangana; they wanted Telangana in its original form. Chandrasekhar Rao asked the Centre whether it was addressing the demands of the neglected Telangana or the Seemandhra community. He said he had posed this question to the GoM members when the TRS members met them last month and said that the same thing was underlined in the report given to it. Replying to questions from newsmen, he said that the TRS would continue its battle until ‘sampoorna Telangna’ was achieved. He further stated that he would attend the winter session of Parliament and give notice of an amendment (against Rayala Telangana if Centre decided on it).
