Hyderabad: The Left parties on Friday demanded the government to withdraw the proposal of power tariff hike of Rs 9,319 crores for the financial year 2014-15. Speaking to media persons, CPI State Secretary K Narayana came down heavily on the Congress government saying that it had promised ‘free electricity’ in its poll promises.

“A case of cheating should be booked against the State government, as it not only failed to keep its promise of ensuring seven hour free power, but it is frequently increasing the power tariff putting heavy burden on general public,” he said. CPM State Secretary B V Raghavulu termed the decision as another severe burden on the 2.53 crore electricity consumers in the State.
