Defeat T Bill in LS: Naidu, Bifurcate the state, Telangana Bill. Referring to the provisions of the draft T Bill, Naidu pointed out that the Centre had recommended common capital status for Hyderabad.
• Says Cong is playing a dirty game
• Violating Constitution in its bid to divide state
• Many issues left without clarity in Bill
• How can two-thirds of people leave Hyderabad after division?
Hyderabad: TDP president Chandrababu Naidu who has been toughening his stand against the UPA government and has started vehemently opposing the move to bifurcate the state on Monday called upon political parties in the Lok Sabha to decimate the Union Government when the No-Confidence Motion comes up for discussion.
At a press conference on Monday, Naidu charged the Congress party with violating Constitution in its attempt to divide the state. Stating that the Congress party had lost the right to be in power, he said that the drubbing it got in four state elections proved how angry people were with its corrupt and ineffective governance. He said the Congress party was “playing a dirty game,” and hence had no right to rule the country.
Referring to the provisions of the draft T Bill, Naidu pointed out that the Centre had recommended common capital status for Hyderabad. How could a Governor look after the law and order when there were two chief ministers and two DGPs for both states. The Centre had tried to snatch powers of the state. Are the Group of Ministers (GoM) or Sonia Gandhi aware of the Constitutional provisions, he questioned. Naidu said no clarity was given with regard to the capital for the residuary Andhra Pradesh. Would the new secretariat in the residuary state function from a forest, he asked.
Was it justified on the part of the Congress to ask people comprising two-thirds population of the state to leave Hyderabad along with their belongings, he fumed and said,“They have common sense? Would the public forgive them for this humiliating treatment.”
Naidu made it clear that the Telugu Desam Party would not ratify the draft T Bill.Naidu said Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao (former chief minister) invited the film industry and noted business houses to set up their base in Hyderabad and later when he himself took over, the city got a global image with IT investments from MNCs including Microsoft. Hyderabad, he said, had 1262 software companies, 3213 educational institutions, 2,517 hospitals and 900 banks. It also included 160-km long outer ring-road, international airport and many prestigious projects, he said.
The draft report mentioned that students from other regions could enjoy reservations in the education sector in the common capital for five years. What would happen to them later? The future of students would turn bleak with limited education and employment opportunities, the TDP chief rued.
The TDP president congratulated Aam Aadmi Party for its stunning debut in New Delhi Assembly elections. A common man Arvind Kejriwal with a broom in his hand had swept the Congress out of power. Similar results will be seen across the country soon and the Congress party would be shunted out of power when the elections were held, he said.
