Hyderabad: The ‘crucial’ meeting, convened by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of 25 Seemandhra ministers on Monday evening, discussed the day’s developments in the Assembly and came to the conclusion that the discussion on the Draft T Bill had not taken off.

The meeting also decided that the BAC should meet on Tuesday to decide the schedule for taking up the debate. The Chief Minister would insist on voting on the Bill.

This decision of the Chief Minister came hours after the State Legislative Minister D Sridhar Babu announced that discussion on the Bill had been initiated. The CM was understood to have told the ministers and the MLAs present that he would insist on voting on every clause in the Assembly. Speaking to media after the meeting, Minister T G Venkatesh claimed that they would stall the process in its final stage. He said all Seemandhra MLAs were united on the issue.

They would express their opinion against the Bill and send it to the President. He was also confident that the Bill would not be adopted in Parliament till the constitutional amendment to Article 371 (D) was effected. All Seemandhra ministers also decided to take part in the debate and extend their support to the CM to conclude the process within 40 days time set by the Pranab Mukherjee.
