Hyderabad: Students, who can shake the political establishment of a country, need to be very disciplined, dedicated and determined when fighting for justice through student movements, felt the speakers at a meeting organised by Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU).
Speaking at the meeting organised at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram on Wednesday, educationist Chukka Ramaiah said that intellectualism was not just sitting at home, but was responding to the happenings of the society. He appealed to students to actively take part in the movements concerning Women, Dalits and Tribals.
He felt that students should to be prepared for everything and urged them to stand by the side of oppressed in order to achieve social justice in the country. He said that this could be done only through strict discipline, dedication and a strong determination. Juluri Gowrishankar, president, Telangana Writers Association, said that the history of Telangana was not about committing suicides, but about fighting for one’s rights. He asked the students to start reading newspapers, analyse the stories and understand the logic behind social movements and issues concerning the society. He stated that student movements were not just about sacrifices and armed struggles, but about shaking of political establishment as well. Mallepalli Lakshmaiah, president, Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika, students and others took part in the meeting.
