Hyderabad: Telangana JAC is undertaking a slew of programmes including a meeting with President Pranab Mukherjee to “thwart conspiracies” of Seemandhra sections to stall the process of formation of Telangana.
In the wake of abrupt adjournment of State Assembly on Friday, Telangana JAC has convened a steering committee meeting on Friday. Prof M Kodandaram, G Deviprasad, G Rajender Reddy, D Shravan, Hamid Mohammed Khan, Ashwathama Reddy and others debated at length on statehood issue.
Later briefing the media, Prof Kodandaram said that they would seek an appointment with President, who is presently in Hyderabad, to apprise him about deliberate attempts of Seemandhra leaders to obstruct the process of Telangana statehood.
He further stated that affidavits signed by all legislators of the region, urging expedition of the process, would be submitted to the first citizen of the country. The task of collecting affidavits was assigned to district JACs, which would contact respective legislators from its area for this purpose, he added. TJAC chief also said that they would circulate copies, prepared in Telugu, English and Urdu languages, about amendments needed in draft Bill to legislators in the coming days.
He informed that district JACs were also told to conduct meetings to discuss the provisions of the draft T Bill and suggest amendments that were required in it. Meanwhile, TRS leader Dr D Shravan said that Chandrababu Naidu, Kiran Kumar Reddy and YS Jaganmohan Reddy would become traitors of Seemandhra region apart from Telangana if they do not allow proper debate in the House on Telangana draft Bill.
Employee leader G Deviprasad appealed to the Congress high command to ensure that Bill was sent back to the President from AP Assembly at least by first week of January in view of clear attempts by Seemandhra sections to prolong the process.
