According to the available statistics, the crime rate has rather at its high during the year 2013, as far as chain-snatching, kidnap and rape are concerned. Conversely, there is a flagrant decrease in other crimes such as dacoity, robbery, burglary and automobile theft.
The Commissioner of Police Anurag Sharma addressed the media and said as many as 89 rapes, 124 kidnaps, 2,277 cheating cases and 3,974 theft cases have been reported out of the total 15,824 cases registered during the year, 2013. He said there has been a steep rise is in pestering SMSs, emails, calls, job frauds and online frauds. The commissioner found fault with the Golconda police for making the love couples do sit-ups.
The commissioner urged all the citizens to be vigilant and agile. He said the New Year celebrations are restricted till 1 a.m. on Wednesday and warned the defaulters of dire consequences.
If we clearly analyze the crime rates, they are more prominently targeted against the women and children. It is evident that women and children become the soft targets for the culprits. There is a need to address the state of affairs. It’s not only the police, but also everyone’s responsibility to bring awareness among the folks regarding the safety measures. Media needs to take a step ahead and promote such issues for a better society.
