  • Lashes out at Manmohan for his remarks on Modi

Hyderabad: Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his remarks against Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the party’s senior leader, M Venkaiah Naidu, called him as the spineless Prime Minister of the nation. Talking to reporters here on Sunday, he observed that the announcement of his retirement at a press conference was not exactly needed. He said the people had already decided about the retirement of the Congress party, which was evident from the bitter defeat it faced in the recent Assembly polls in four States.

“Manmohan Singh devalued the institution of Prime Minister by stooping to such a level to make cheap criticism of Modi. Knowing well that the Congress had no chance of coming back to power, Manmohan Singh had declared that he was not a contender for the Prime Minister’s post and went on to suggest Rahul Gandhi’s name to prove his loyalty to the Gandhi family,’’ Venkaiah said. How could the Prime Minister hold Modi responsible for Gujarat riots while ignoring the fact that more innocent people were massacred in New Delhi under the Congress rule after the assassination of Indira Gandhi, he questioned.

According to Naidu, the 10-year UPA government’ rule was a saga of betrayals, broken promises and galore of massive scams and scandals. It brought down the country’s image internationally, collapsed the economy and even devalued the rupee. To sum up, it failed on each and every front. Assembly should debate on T Bill Reiterating the BJP’s commitment to the Telangana State formation, Venkaiah Naidu appealed to the Seemandhra legislators to allow debate on AP State Reorganisation Bill in both the Assembly and the Council.
