Rajahmundry: Irked by chidings from their respective parents, five school-going girls ‘disappeared’ from their homes in Rajahmundry Urban police district limits on Tuesday.

The girls going missing created a sensation in the city. However, the ordeal is ending on a happy note as the five have been found by the police in Kakinada safely. It is said they wanted to spend two days in Kakinada before returning home.

According to Rajahmundry Urban SP, T Ravi Kumar Murthy, three girl students studying in Chaitnaya Techno School Morampudi, Pulagam Sushma Sahasi (Class 8), Pulagam Reshma Naidu (Class 6) and Pathuri Sindhu Jahnavi (Class 8) along with Akkireddi Gayathri Sowbhagya Lakshmi (Class 9) from Gouthami Public School and Cheppula Ashritha (Class 8) from Divya Public School in Rajanagaram went missing on Tuesday evening.

They checked in at Amaravathi lodge in Kakinada after convincing the hotel staff that they had come to participate in a sports meet.

The hotel management alerted the local police after seeing breaking news about the missing girls on TV channels. The police brought the girls to Rajahmundry and handed them over to their parents in the presence of Rajahmundry Urban MRO.
