LS Speaker Meira Kumar Sets Up Probe Panel. A day after the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar suspended 16 MPs for indulging in unruly acts and causing chaos in the House, she has decided to constitute a committee to probe into the incidents and recommend necessary measures in regard to the action that needs to be taken against those who indulged in violent acts.
New Delhi: A day after the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar suspended 16 MPs for indulging in unruly acts and causing chaos in the House, she has decided to constitute a committee to probe into the incidents and recommend necessary measures in regard to the action that needs to be taken against those who indulged in violent acts.
The committee will he headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha Karia Munda. It will also suggest measures to prevent any such incidents in the future.
It may be recalled that the Lok Sabha on Thursday witnessed unprecedented incidents like the Members engaging in physical clashes and Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal using pepper spray, making mockery of democracy.
The panel will also probe allegations that TDP MP Modugula Venugopal Reddy brandished a knife in the House.
Meanwhile, the Speaker convened a meeting of all political parties on Monday to discuss how to move forward in regard to the Telangana Bill that had been introduced in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
