Hyderabad: The CPM, which opposed the bifurcation of the State, has become the first party to announce formation of two different committees for Telangana and the residual State.

Tammineni Veerabhadram and Penumalli Madhu will be the state secretaries of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively. Following this decision, BV Raghvulu, who has been the state secretary since 2000, will go down in the history of the party as the last state secretary of the united Andhra Pradesh.

The state committee meeting, which was attended by national general secretary Prakash Karat and politburo member Sitaram Yechury, has constituted Telangana unit with 42 members and AP unit with 44 members.

The meeting also decided that it will contest six Lok Sabha seats - Araku , Vijayawada, Kurnool, Bhongir, Khammam and Mahabubabad and 33 Assembly seats, including Kuppam, Araku, Gajuwaka Rampachodavaram , Polavaram , Vijayawada Central, Avanigadda , Mangalagiri, Sattenapalli, Santhanuthalapadu, Nellore Rural , Anantapur, Kurnool, Kodumuru Ibrahimpatnam, Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Nakrekal, Huzurnagar, Kodad, Suryapet , Khammam, Paleru, Madhira, Wyra, Bhadrachalam Warangal, Jangaon, Mahabubabad , Sangareddy , Adilabad, Kollapur and Musheerabad (Hyderabad).

The CPM will be contesting in 124 Municipalities and 631 Wards from 21 districts.

According to BV Raghavulu, people would be ‘disillusioned’ within few days after formation of Telangana as the political leaders would not stand up to their promises. He felt that the disillusioned people would agitate and the party would support them to get their due. The leader noted that it would stick to the national policy of non-Congress and non-BJP alliance. However, if any of the political parties were ready to forge alliance with it, the party was ready to go with them unless they have no leaning towards Congress and BJP.

Raghavulu denied reports that CPM had not yet taken any decision on poll alliances.
