Diggy’s double standards – one for T, another for AP, Digvijay Singh, Telangana Congress. This decision was taken at a meeting AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh had with Seemandhra Congress leaders on Saturday evening.

  • To take credit for T formation in Telangana and blame opposition for bifurcation in Seemandhra
  • The newly inaugurated Indira Bhavan will be the headquarters of Seemandhra Congress, while T Congress will retain Gandhi Bhavan

Hyderabad: The Congress party is working out a two-pronged election strategy. While it wants to go to the people in an aggressive manner claiming credit for Telangana State becoming a reality, in Seemandhra it wants to blame the opposition parties for putting pressure on it to take a decision to divide the State.

This decision was taken at a meeting AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh had with Seemandhra Congress leaders on Saturday evening. According to sources, the Seemandhra Congress leaders expressed their anguish and fear over the drubbing the party was likely to face in the elections. They even told him that no one was ready to contest the polls as they fear total rout.

Digivijay, while giving a pep talk to them, told them instead of trying to blame their own party they should portray TDP, YSRCP and BJP as the prime culprits for the Centre's T decision. He also asked the Seemandhra leaders to go to the people and tell them how the Congress party had ensured that justice was done to the Seemandhra people.

After inaugurating Indira Bhavan, a new building on the premises of Gandhi Bhavan later, Digvijay spoke to the media. He said the party would now focus on development of both the States. While Gandhi Bhavan will be the headquarters of Telangana Congress, Indira Bhavan will house the Seemandhra Congress.

The AICC general secretary said that with the bifurcation of the State, the Congress has started a new chapter. “I appeal to both the chiefs of the PCCs of Seemandhra and Telangana to strengthen the party at all levels in their respective regions," he said.

He congratulated Ponnala Lakshmaiah and N Raghuveera Reddy, after taking oath as heads of Telangana PCC and Seemandhra PCC respectively. Union Ministers K Chiranjeevi, MM Pallam Raju, K Krupa Rani and P Balaram Naik, Rajya Sabha members KVP Ramachandra Rao and T Subbarami Reddy, former PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and T-Congress leaders K Jana Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Shabbir Ali, and several others attended the meeting.
