Hyderabad: Four days after he announced the launch of his new political party in Andhra Pradesh called Jana Sena, Telugu film star Pawan Kalyan made a "policy

declaration" that it is a "serious political party with a long-term goal" and "not for temporary electoral gains".

"Jana Sena is a serious political party with a long-term goals as well as socio-political aims and not for temporary electoral gains. We are committed to creating a new political

force and political leaders against all odds, to bring in a grassroots revolution in society," the policy declaration said.

It said that the Jana Sena has started recruiting thousands of party members after careful scrutiny and started training them extensively to build a "social army". "That's why we are going slow and strong," it said.

India's Republic Day, Independence Day and Formation Day of the two Telugu-speaking states would be the only holidays in Jana Sena's calendar.

"Birthdays, cultural and religious festivals will not be celebrated because they have all been exploited for political gains rather than their original purpose of national integrity.

This policy of Jana Sena is out of immense respect for our culture and multi-religious fabric of our nation Bharat," the declaration said.
