Hyderabad: The TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao expressing his strong opposition to the prestigious metro rail project works in the Sultan Bazar, Mozamzahi market, Assembly route saying that it would cause damage to centuries old heritage structures.

Rao said that he had met the officials of L&T Company and the Metro Rail authorities and suggested that they should go in for underground railway lines in that area. He was speaking at a programme where Dr Sanjay of Jagtial and others joined the party on Tuesday. It may be mentioned here that TRS chief had raised a strong voice against this project in the past. He said Jagtial would be made a separate district with headquarters. He also stated that he would revive plan for rail link from Karimnagar to Hyderabad, which failed to take off for the past two decades.

Rao called upon the people of Telangana to treat upcoming elections as the most crucial elections. He said supporting TRS was a historical necessity since it was the only party which was responsible for formation of Telangana. Wishes and woes of Telangana would be taken care of only if TRS came to power in the new state, he said. “TRS has a vision and will not rest until Telangana becomes a role model and number one state in the country,” he said.

Lashing out at Congress leaders for claiming that it was they who had made T state a reality, Rao said Congress did not concede Telangana ‘just like that.’ It came after a long-drawn battle and sacrifices by thousands of youth who committed suicides. Rao also flayed TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah for his continued outbursts against him. He said Lakshmaiah never participated in the statehood movement even for a single day.
