Hyderabad: Governor Gets 2 New Advisors, Two retired bureaucrats were appointed as Advisors to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: Two retired bureaucrats were appointed as Advisors to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday. According to sources, retired IAS officer A P V N Sarma and former AP DGP A K Mohanty would help the Governor in discharging the duties particularly in respect of law and order and administration in Hyderabad, the joint capital of the two new States. The two officials also called on Governor at the Raj Bhavan.

Sarma joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1974 and held a series of posts in districts and departments in AP. He took over as Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd in January 1997, when the company was declared sick by BIFR. By undertaking a series of innovative steps, he succeeded in steering the company into profits for successive years. Mohanty, a 1975 batch IPS officer, had served as the Police Commissioner of Hyderabad in 2005. He was transferred by the government allegedly under pressure from the MIM. The official was later appointed as the Head of Octopus, the anti-terror force.
