Hyderabad: The first session of (new) Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the post bifurcation period began here at 11.52 am on Thursday, the auspicious time decided by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in the old Assembly building on Thursday.
New MLAs Take Oath
Protem Speaker Pativada Narayanaswamy Naidu administered the oath to 166 newly elected legislators. Naidu was earlier administered the oath by Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took oath first as member of the Legislative Assembly, followed by the leader of opposition, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Later the Speaker administered oath to Deputy Chief Ministers K E Krishna Murthy and N Chinnarajappa, other ministers and MLAs.
New MLAs Take Oath
Soon after taking the oath, Naidu walked to the seat of the leader of opposition and shook hands with him. The House later passed two condolence resolutions and mourned the death of Nandigama MLA Tangirala Prabhakar and Shobha Nagi Reddy, who died in a car accident on the eve of the Assembly elections and was declared elected.

Earlier in the morning, Protem Speaker Narayanaswamy Naidu was sworn-in by Governor E S L Narasimhan. The House will elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker on Friday. The House will take up debate on motion of thanks to the Governor's address on June 23 and 24.
