TTD EO MG Gopal who took part in this religious fete said that the entire state is reeling under severe drought conditions. "With a view to appeasing the Lord of Rains-Varuna, TTD took up the holy task of performing this unique yagam which has a specific mention in Vedas for receiving good amount of rainfall," he added.

The Purnahuti for the six-day fete was performed at Paruveta Mandapam followed by Avabridesthi-the holy immersion of the yagam materials in the waters of the temple tank near Varahaswamy temple. About 100 Ritwiks hailing from southern states of India took part in this Yaga-Kratu. Dharamagiri Vedapathashala Principal KSS Avadhani was also present.
