Hyderabad: As many as 15 people were killed and 18 injured when a massive blaze raged through a village in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district following a blast in an apparently leaking gas pipeline, early hours on Friday. The bodies of 13 people charred in the incident were recovered from the gutted houses. Two others succumbed to their burn injuries while undergoing treatment at different hospitals, said Amalapuram DSP M Veera Reddy. The 18 people injured in this incident were shifted to different hospitals in the district, added sources. The deceased include five women, three girls and a boy.

On this shocking incident both Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, have expressed their deep condolence; and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had asked the petroleum minister and other senior officers to ensure immediate relief at the accident site.

"My thoughts with the families of those who lost their lives in the GAIL pipeline fire. Prayers with the injured," he tweeted.
