Bhadrachalam/ Rajahmundry: The Godavari level at Bhadrachalam which reached 39 feet following heavy rain in the catchment areas during the last week is gradually falling. It touched 34 feet on Sunday. Water released into sea at Dowlaiswaram Meanwhile, the water level in Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowlaiswaram reached 9.10 feet by 6 pm on Sunday.

About 5.52 lakh cusecs is being released into the sea after lifting all crest gates up to 1.8 feet. Ten thousand cusecs of water is being released to the Eastern, Central and Western deltas. The Central Water Commission hinted that there is no significant improvement in flood level in the Godavari.

According to irrigation officials, about 140 of 210 tmcft has been released into the sea. Thirty tmcft water has been used to fill the reservoirs. The remaining water will be discharged into the sea in a day or two. The first warning sign will be issued at Dowlaiswaram when the water level reaches 11.75 feet, with all crest gates completely lifted or the water discharge reaches more than 10 lakh cusecs.
