TTD to dispose foreign coins, After a successful attempt of converting of the gold received through offerings, now, TTD is reportedly planning to dispose the foreign coins which weigh about 40 tons in weight and piled up at the TTD treasury over many years.
Tirupati: After a successful attempt of converting of the gold received through offerings, now, TTD is reportedly planning to dispose the foreign coins which weigh about 40 tons in weight and piled up at the TTD treasury over many years.
It is evident that the devotees visiting Tirupathi make various kinds of offerings including gold, silver and bronze ornaments, foreign currency and coins. The TTD officials opt to convert gold, silver and other ornaments into gold deposits. The foreign currency is converted into Indian currency through nationalized banks.
It is learnt that the temple administration has been facing the intricacies in disposing the foreign coins. The TTD administration has reportedly sought the support of the Reserve Bank of India following the repeated futile efforts of the TTD to dispose these coins through e-auction.
