Jagan stages walkout as Speaker denies opportunity to speak, Following the appeal by the deputy floor leader of the party Jyotula Nehru, Speaker K Sivaprasada Rao sought the opinion of the House.

  • Speaker agrees to revoke suspension of two YSRCP leaders
  • However, the leaders absent themselves from the House proceedings

Hyderabad: Following all round criticism over the behavior of the YSRCP during the last four days and suspension of two its members C R Shiva Prasada Reddy and Mani Gandhi on Tuesday for breaking the Speakers mike, the YSRCP urged the Speaker to revoke the suspension and offered to make their members apologise for their act.

Following the appeal by the deputy floor leader of the party Jyotula Nehru, Speaker K Sivaprasada Rao sought the opinion of the House.

The Minister for Legislative Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the government had no objection for revoking the suspension provided the members apologised to the House.

The Speaker agreed to this and told Nehru to call his members. But to the utter dismay of the Nehru himself, it was found that the two members were nowhere on the Assembly premises.

Irked at this, the Speaker told Nehru that he should have taken up the case only when they were in the Assembly. Similarly, the YSRCP drew flak from the ruling party when its leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy led a walkout during question hour without waiting for the reply from the Minister.

Later when the Speaker refused to give any more time to Jagan to speak on the budget since he had already spoken for 1 hour and 45 minutes on Monday, Jagan in a fit of anger got up from his seat and just walked out of the House.

Even his own party members were not sure if he had staged a walkout and whether they should follow him or he was just going out. Finally they also walked out of the House.

Taking exception to this, Ramakrishnudu said he had never seen an opposition which staged a walkout without a reason. It appeared that the Leader of Opposition could have thought that the word House meant his own house where his orders would prevail. He perhaps did not know that in Assembly there were certain norms and rules to be followed by every member, he averred.
