Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will set the ball rolling for development of IT sector in Visakhapatnam by inaugurating Technology Research and Innovation Park (TRIP) in Visakhapatnam and participating in the CEOs meeting on Monday. He will also sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with top IT companies like Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER).

According to observers, Visakhapatnam being the largest city in Andhra Pradesh has better prospects than Vijayawada, Kakinada and Tirupati due to its international connectivity and abundance of government land.

The city has generated revenue of Rs 13,000 crore in the last financial year with its employment strength against Rs 66,000 crore revenue of united Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad alone accounted for Rs 65,000 crore.

“The Andhra Pradesh government hopes to raise the revenue to at least Rs 50,000 crore by end of 2020,”' said an official attached to IT department.

The special economic zone (SEZ) created on the hills overlooking the Bay of Bengal provided good ambience for the IT sector, said A Sudhakar, an entrepreneur from the US, who is now planning to shift part of his business to Vizag.

O Naresh Kumar, vice president of Rushikonda IT SEZ Association and Chief Executive Officer of Symbiosis Technologies said Vizag had great potential, provided the government worked on tax benefits and developed about one million square feet to facilitate growth of the IT industry, along with creating infrastructure like air travel facility round-the-clock, and schools and hospitals of international standards.
