Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to impose 20 per cent cut in non-plan expenditure as a part of ensuring financial discipline.

Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu stated in a release on Sunday that the government had proposed an expenditure of Rs 1,11,824 crore in its budget estimates for 2014-15, without imposing any fresh taxes. Non-plan expenditure was estimated at Rs 85,151 crore and plan expenditure at Rs 26,673 crore. The budget was presented with a revenue deficit of Rs 6,064 crore and a fiscal deficit of Rs 12,064 crore.

However, there would not be any cut in inevitable expenditures like salaries, professional services, contract services, stipend and scholarships, the release added. The government also announced relief to the commercial taxpayers of cyclone-hit north coastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.

The last date for filing returns and tax dues has been extended by one month. The monthly returns of the business turnover for September and the tax dues for the same month have to be filed by the end of October 31.Any delay in payment of tax dues and filing monthly returns attracts penalty and interest.

The subsistence allowance for prisoners, who are required to be hospitalised for emergency ailments, is increased from Rs 40 per day to Rs 60 in case of outside stay for more than 12 hours up to 24 hours, and Rs 120 for outside stay beyond 24 hours up to 48 hours.
