New Delhi: Former Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao has requested the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to call him anytime next week as he failed to turn up before it on Monday. The ED had summoned him for his alleged connection in the coalgate scam. It will now send him fresh summons.

It may be recalled Rao was questioned by the CBI in April in connection with alleged irregularities in allocation of Talabira-II coal block in which Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and former Coal Secretary P C Parakh are accused.

The 66-year-old Rao was the Minister of State for Coal between 2004 and 2006 and from 2006 to 2008. The ED sought details about the money transaction between Jindals and Soubhagya Media and Siri media. Dasari stated that he did not have any role in the decision-making process. He said he was not involved in the company's day-to-day business.
