Hyderabad: The issue of conducting the Engineering and Medical Common Entrance Test, which rocked both states post bifurcation, has taken a new row on Monday as TSCHE objected to the dates of common tests announced by APSCHE. While APSCHE Chairman Venugopal Reddy during a press meet declared dates for EAMCET, ECET, ICET, EDCET, and Lawcet here, TSCHE raised objection to it leading to a new controversy.

  • TS to announce its own dates by January 5
  • TSCHE claims it has the authority to conduct CETs in both States
  • AP is taking it as a prestige issue to conduct common tests, says TSCHE chief

TSCHE chairman Papi Reddy expressed serious anguish on his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Venugopal Reddy for announcing common entrance tests which is aimed at having supremacy on Telangana post bifurcation. “We will conduct our own Eamcet and the dates will be announced by Jan 5,” said Papi Reddy during a media conference. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has approved new Eamcet for Telangana State, he said.

Papi Reddy criticised that the AP Government is hell bent on false prestige and domination by announcing dates for the tests. Despite division of the state, the AP is trying to dictate terms that will prove futile as Telangana State has decided to conduct its own exams as per AP Reorganisation Act, he said.
