Nellore: With Madhavi Lata of Golagamudi village in Venkatachalam mandal showing symptoms of swine flu, panic has set in Nellore district. Ailing for a week with fever and cold, she was shifted to a private hospital in Chennai. Doctors there confirmed that she was suffering from swine flu.
Initially, she was admitted to a private hospital here. With fever and cold not subsiding, Lata was moved to Chennai.
Residents of Golagamudi on Sunday expressed concern over the spread of H1N1 due to unhygienic conditions prevailing in the village. They alleged that panchayat secretary Prasad had ignored their repeated representations.
Meanwhile, the district administration became alert and making arrangements in the government general hospitals here to treat the swine flu cases. Two wards have been set up in D S R Government Hospital, which is part of local medical college.
