New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called upon the investors in green energy to choose the ‘Sunrise’ State where his government would provide speedy single-window clearances. He assured the investors that all other roadblocks would be removed in the country because the State aimed to become ‘power-surplus’ by 2019. He said his government was dedicated to be ‘power surplus’ one in the country and added that the environment in the State was friendly to investors particularly in green and renewable energies like solar, wind and bio-mass.

Naidu was one of the guests to address at the RE-Invest 2015, India’s first Renewable Energy Global Investors’ Meet and Expo in New Delhi which was inaugurated in the morning by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the occasion, the State government signed MoUs to the tune of 4,000 MW (wind power) and 200 MW hybrid power systems with various energy producers in the country. He signed MoUs with 17 companies. Naidu also unveiled the wind policy and solar policy. Naidu assured the investors that his government was interested in having a hybrid power policy including solar and wind power generation plans. Investors could straight away enter into tripartite agreements with the Discoms whereas the State government would announce the power prices on its part. Business models were needed for the State to establish 13.5 lakh solar pump sets and LED bulbs would have to replace the existing non-LED options, he said. Naidu invited investors to come to Andhra Pradesh immediately without any hesitation and the whole government machinery was in a hurry to clear all the proposals within 21 days.

Union Minister for Energy Piyush Goyal expressed confidence that the recent coal block allotments would benefit the country immensely both financially and in boosting power sector. He welcomed the suggestion of Naidu of bundling of coal allotments with renewable energy resources and hoped other State governments would follow suit. He commended the Chief Minister for his vision on the power-sector in the State. He promised to establish a power training institute (a university to train students in managing power utilities and green energy etc) and sought land for the purpose. Naidu was quick to respond saying, “Any amount of land on the spot.” “You will have it in the first hour of next working day,” he said much to the delight of the Union Minister and the audience.

Solar and Wind Power Policies of Andhra Pradesh government were released at Re-Invest 2015 jointly by the Piyush Goyal the Union Minister of State for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
