It may be recalled that Andhra Pradesh has already issued a red corner notice for his arrest and sough the cooperation of Interpol in this connection. Gangi Reddy is a prime accused in the attempt on the life of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Alipiri and also wanted in several cases of smuggling and attempt to murder.

The Kurnool police arrested him once in the smuggling of red sanders logs. However, after obtaining bail in that case he fled the country with the active support of some political bigwigs. The TDP president in a letter to Governor ESL Narasimhan in May last stated that there was threat to his life from Gangi Reddy. a
