Nellore: Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu has launched the “Nellore Next” programme, with an aim to develop Nellore district by bringing all famous personalities of Nellore district from various walks of life under one roof.The Union Minister intended to bring scientists, doctors, educationists and industrialists together and utilise their services for the integrated development of the Nellore. In this connection, a meeting was held under the aegis of the Swarna Bharati Trust here on Saturday.
At his inaugural address, Venkaiah Naidu urged all those hailing from the Nellore district to come together and ensure that there was all-round progress in the district. He urged them to prepare action plans for the integrated development of the district and mobilise funds for the purpose. Venkaiah Naidu said that all the VIPs in Mumbai had decided to develop Mumbai under the slogan “Mumbai First” and taking a cue, he decided to take up the programme, “Nellore Next.”
He said steps were being taken to complete all pending projects in Nellore district under the Swadeshi Darshan programme. He said the next meeting of “Nellore Next” programme would be held on May 30 with NRIs. The Union Minister said that the Central government would extend all possible assistance for the development of municipalities in the district.
He said permission was granted for taking up the works relating to the Duggarajapatnam Port and they would begin the works soon. He said as many as Rs 1,000 crore were sanctioned form the HUDCO funds for taking up water supply and the construction of underground drainage system. The Union Minister said that some power projects were being setup near Muttukuru.
