Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of misusing the official and police machinery to eliminate his political opponents and demanded a CBI inquiry into the spate of murders in Anantapur district.A delegation of YSRCP MPs, MLAs and other leaders led by party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy called on Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Monday and submitted a memorandum to him.

The memorandum among others drew to the attention of the Governor the “deteriorating law and order in Andhra Pradesh.” The YSRCP delegation apprised the Governor of various incidents that had taken places during the last few months wherein the party leaders and supporters were killed. The YSRCP leaders urged the Governor to institute a CBI investigation to put an end to “brutal killings” of persons opposed to the ruling party.

YSRC president YS Jaganmohan Reddy along with party leaders coming out of Raj Bhavan after submitting a memorandum to Governor ESL Narasimhan on Monday.

Later, speaking to the media Jagan accused Naidu of practising “politics of murder” to eliminate YSRCP leaders in the state. In this connection he cited the ghastly murder of Bhumi Reddy Prasad Reddy in Rapthadu town of Ananthapur district on April 29 on the premises of MRO Office.

According to him, the YSRCP leader was called to the tahsildar office by the officials on some pretext and when he reached the office, he was killed brutally with the weapons hidden on the premises. Similarly on March 31 a YSRCP leader Vijaybhaskar Reddy, a Single-Window President, was summoned and asked to resign. When refused he was brutally murdered, Jagan explained. There were eight murders in Anantapur district which happened to be the home district of the State’s DGP.
