Mystery shrouds cash bag at AP mantri’s house

Hyderabad: Even as the Telugu Desam Party is yet to recover from the shock after the arrest of its Telangana MLA Revanth Reddy in the cash-for-vote scam, the yellow party landed in another controversy after a cash bag with Rs 10 lakh was found in the house of AP minister Peethala Sujatha in West Godavari district.

According to reports, a servant in the minister's house noticed a bag lying on the premises and informed the same to the minister’s father, who informed the police immediately. The police rushed to the spot and seized the bag containing Rs 10 lakh, some certificates and a District Selection Committee hall-ticket of a woman aspirant.

Speaking to media persons at her house in Veeravasaram, the minister feigned innocence and said she was not present at her home when the incident occurred. She said they had informed the police on receipt of the information that an unidentified person left a bag with Rs 10 lakh at her house. “The police will probe whether it was intentional or somebody by mistake left the bag,” she said.

Meanwhile, the police nabbed a woman identified as Vishnuvati, a retired teacher in connection with the cash recovered at the residence of A P minister. She reportedly told the police that she had drawn the money from a bank for her niece’s marriage. Vishnuvati also stated that she had gone to the minister’s residence to meet her father about the marriage issue.

Vishnuvati failed to clarify as to why a DSC hall-ticket and certificates of a girl were kept in the bag. It is being suspected that the money was brought to bribe the minister for someone's selection in teacher's recruitment process.
